About ecoworks
ecoworks is an innovator in serial renovation. We were the first company in Germany to implement serial renovation and have been developing, professionalizing and optimizing it since 2019. We are the housing industry's partner for affordable energy-efficient renovation. As a general contractor, we support housing companies ranging from small cooperatives to housing groups from initial idea to mass-ready, serial implementation. With the serial renovation, we are shifting 80% of the work from the construction site to the factory. This is how our customers can economically transform their entire portfolio towards climate neutrality.
We are at a peak interest rate level. Construction costs have risen due to supply chains, the availability of craftsmen is declining due to the shortage of skilled workforce and the funding landscape has become an uncertain constant in the last two years — the list of challenges is long.
At ecoworks, we are convinced that we need to rethink energy-efficient renovation and need new impetus to provide the housing industry with new ways and means of renovating buildings in the current environment. With more than 100 employees, we are constantly developing our product to increase the level of automation and standardization.

What sets us apart
First serial renovation
We were the first company in Germany to implement the serial renovation and have been developing it since 2019. Our innovative facade modules form the basis of our work. Based on comprehensive and reliable data, they are custom-made in the factory and equipped with integrated windows, ventilation, insulation and building services before they are delivered to the construction site ready for installation.
The entire renovation process is highly digitalized and automated. This enables us to implement projects quickly and reliably.
Quality & optimization
With an innovative product and a constantly optimized digitized process, we can provide our customers from the housing and real estate sector with the best possible support and assist in decarbonizing their portfolio. In just a few weeks of construction, we can transform existing properties from the “worst performing buildings” category up to KfW standard 40 EE (Energy efficiency).
We offer our customers everything from a single source — from initial planning to final implementation. Together with our customers, we strive for excellence and support them with our knowledge and commitment to achieve great things together.
Target market
46% of apartment buildings in Germany are in urgent need of renovation. ecoworks offers an all-in-one system solution for buildings with poor energy efficiency classes meeting energy efficiency building standards A to A+ (25 - 40 kWh/m²/a). Our approach is to renovate large properties (>1,500m²) with industrial production in a very short period of time. In doing so, we can move up to 80% of production from the construction site to the factory.
We not only support our clients with portfolio analysis, but also identify suitable properties in the portfolio for serial renovations.

With the serial renovation, we are providing the technology, financial viability and capacities for the transformation of the E-H energy efficiency classes. From project development, through project planning, to production, execution and climate-neutral operation.

Oikos Group GmbH is one of the largest prefabricated home manufacturers in Europe and represents a community of quality and values for modern prefab construction in Germany and beyond. Oikos Group brings together the brands Bien-Zenker, Hanse Haus, and Living Haus under one roof. Oikos Group will support ecoworks as a partner in the production of facade elements for numerous projects. In addition, both companies are collaborating in the areas of standardization and automation to integrate the know-how from the prefab industry into climate-neutral serial renovation.
Brüninghoff Holz GmbH & Co. KG, with three production sites in Germany, is a subsidiary of the Brüninghoff Group and specializes in precision timber processing, timber element production, and timber product manufacturing for industry, construction, and trade. The company is a trusted partner for architects and planners, carpentry businesses, as well as timber house and hall builders in Germany and neighboring European countries. Brüninghoff partners with ecoworks in manufacturing and supports the production of facade and roof elements for many projects.
STEICO develops, produces and sells ecological building products made from renewable raw materials. STEICO is the market leader in the field of wood fiber insulation materials. STEICO is positioned as a system provider for ecological house construction and is the only manufacturer in the industry to offer an integrated timber construction system in which innovative timber structures and bio-based insulation materials complement each other. Laminated veneer lumber and web beams form the structural components of the system. Insulation materials include flexible and sturdy wood fiber insulation boards, façade insulation materials, and blown-in insulation made of wood fibers and cellulose. Sealing products for building envelopes complete the overall system.
The Masterplan Solarcity is the operational instrument of the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises to support the ambitious goal of becoming climate-neutral as quickly as possible. The extensive use of solar energy is a key component, as it represents a significant share of the city's renewable energy potential. To achieve this goal, solar systems with a capacity of around 4,400 megawatts need to be installed on Berlin’s rooftops. This requires creative local approaches and strong partners who, for example, come together within the Masterplan’s partnership network.

Emanuel Heisenberg
CEO, Founder & Managing Director
Emanuel Heisenberg is the founder and one of the main shareholders of ecoworks. Before founding ecoworks, he was involved in setting up an energy services company and a geothermal energy company. As an innovator, he not only brought the idea of serial renovation to Germany, but also realised the first successful serial renovation with ecoworks. He has more than 15 years of experience in building climate tech companies and has a global network of experts in deep and climate tech. As an expert in energy and climate policy, he has not only advised the German government, but also companies and private equity funds. Emanuel Heisenberg studied history and economics in Munich and Cambridge.
Paul Birkner
Chief Operating Officer & Managing Director
Paul Birkner is Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director at ecoworks. He is an operational expert and strategy consultant for construction processes & digitization with many years of experience in the construction and real estate sector. He worked in real estate consulting and as a project manager at STRABAG SE and DTAG. Thanks to his many years of experience, as part of the management board, he develops the strategic direction for ecoworks in order to position the company for the future and to keep it competitive.
Paul Birkner studied real estate management in Berlin.
Antonia Seffen
Chief Financial Officer
Antonia Seffen is Chief Financial Officer at ecoworks and part of the management team. She worked as managing director in the administration of real estate funds and in the transaction business at Ernst & Young and was most recently responsible for the finances division of FEMtech company Clue and, in this role, also responsible for financing rounds with leading global funds. She is an expert in investor relations and is responsible for preparing and developing the content of all financial reports.
Antonia Seffen studied international business administration and economic history in Maastricht (UM), Buenos Aires (UBA) and London (LSE).
