Meet the ecoworkys: Robert Abromeit

Robert Abromeit - Building Physics  for the Scalable Construction Transition

In the construction industry, true change is the result of precise technical development. One of the minds at ecoworks ensuring that our vision of a climate-neutral building stock translates into scalable products is Robert. As a graduate engineer with years of profound experience in building physics and a certified DGNB Auditor, he brings exactly the holistic expertise needed for future-proof construction. In his role as Senior Building Physicist - Construction & Products, he works at the crucial intersection where the theory of building physics meets the practical application of serial production.

For over three years now, Robert has been contributing his expertise to ecoworks. He is not just a pure theoretician; his goal is to make the ecoworks vision of a scalable renovation solution a reality. Regardless of whether the energy requirements call for an Efficiency House 40, 55, or 70, he creates the right standard solutions for a wide variety of building types.

We spoke with Robert about his journey, his focus on product development, and his endurance in the construction transition.

Why ecoworks? The Drive for Maximum Impact

For Robert, the move to ecoworks was a very conscious decision for effectiveness. In an industry facing massive challenges, he looked for the place where he could make the greatest possible difference, aiming to apply his skills where the biggest impact for climate protection lies.

This deep conviction is reflected in his daily motivation:

"That my work contributes to a goal that is so personally important to me! This feeling gives me an incredible amount of satisfaction. A special reward is seeing the finished fassade modules flying onto the house at the construction site."

Product Development with Depth and Endurance

In his product development role, Robert is concerned with much more than individual projects. It's about setting standards that work across hundreds of buildings. Achieving this ambitious goal requires two skills in particular: technical depth combined with perseverance.

This demand for precision ensures the quality of our products. Scalable solutions only work if their building physics are thought through down to the last detail. In product development at ecoworks, this means not only keeping the building itself in mind but also viewing the entire process of its creation as an efficient, repeatable system.

A Marathon for the Future

The transformation of construction is not a sprint, and Robert knows this all too well after more than three years at ecoworks. True scaling requires patience and a constant willingness to learn. If he were to meet his past self on his first day today, his advice would therefore be clear:

"Look forward to continuously learning. And don't even believe that you will have completed the serial renovation of all suitable buildings in 3 years. It’s a marathon - there is still an incredible amount to do!"

And for those moments when the work on technical development and strategic planning becomes particularly intense, Robert already has the perfect solution in mind. If he could choose a superpower:

"Without a doubt: Teleporting! That way, I could jump from project to project in a matter of seconds - and head straight to the beach from the construction site after work!"

Until teleporting becomes part of our product range, we prefer to rely on Robert's professional depth and his endurance, with which he makes serial renovation a bit more scalable day by day.

Do you also want to be part of the construction revolution?

We are always looking for motivated minds who, like Robert, want to help shape the product world of tomorrow and pull the big lever for climate protection. Check out our career page and find your place in the team!
