Two ecoworks projects nominated for RealGreen Award 2026

Two ecoworks projects nominated for the DENEFF RealGreen Award 2026
The jury of the German Industry Initiative for Energy Efficiency (DENEFF) has announced the shortlist for the RealGreen Award 2026. Two projects realized by ecoworks were successfully submitted by our clients.
We congratulate GEWOBAU Erlangen Wohnungsbaugesellschaft der Stadt Erlangen mbH and TAG Immobilien AG on their nominations. Our joint work demonstrates in practice how the transformation of the building sector can succeed in a climate-friendly, efficient, and future-proof way.
Scalable renovation solutions for existing buildings
A total of four projects were nominated in the "(Full) Renovations" category. We are delighted that two of these were realized by us. This encourages us in our approach: driving the decarbonization of the building stock forward through predictable, serial processes.
The nominated projects at a glance:
1. GEWOBAU Erlangen: Serial neighborhood renovation
Submission: „Serielle Quartierssanierung im Stadtteil Erlangen-Bruck im bewohnten Zustand“ (Serial neighborhood renovation in the Erlangen-Bruck district while fully occupied)
This project is our largest serial renovation endeavor to date. A 1960s neighborhood was energetically modernized—and this was done while the buildings were fully occupied, keeping disruptions for the tenants to an absolute minimum.
Project facts:
- Scale: 132 residential units across 8,672 m² of living space.
- Installation: Approx. 1,000 m² of the building envelope was installed within just one week.
- Result: A 70% reduction in energy demand and savings of around 391 tons of CO₂ per year.

2. TAG Immobilien AG: Modernization of standardized buildings
Submission: „CO₂ sparen, Zukunft bauen: Ein Modernisierungsprojekt mit Vorbildcharakter“ (Saving CO₂, building the future: A modernization project setting an example)
The four-story apartment building in Merseburg (built in 1958, 32 residential units) was comprehensively modernized in a short construction time using a serial solution. The project demonstrates an efficient approach that can be transferred to numerous similar existing buildings.

Looking ahead to the award ceremony
The nominations show that serial renovation makes an important contribution to the decarbonization of the building sector. We are pleased with this recognition of our joint projects by DENEFF and are keeping our fingers crossed for our partners at the upcoming award ceremony.
