Nürnberg – Schweidnitzer and Militscher Straße

Overview
In Nuremberg, an innovative partnership between ecoworks and Dawonia is setting new standards for sustainable building renovation. Together, the two companies are modernizing three multifamily buildings from 1966 located on Schweidnitzer Straße and Militscher Straße. This project will result in a total of 72 modernized apartments with a combined living area of 4,799 m².
The goal of the project is to bring the buildings up to the latest energy standards, achieve the KfW Efficiency House 55 EE standard, and significantly enhance living comfort for residents. Key measures include the innovative ecoworks façade system, a new insulated roof, energy-efficient renovation of the basement ceilings, and the addition of new balconies. In addition, a custom solution is being developed to insulate the façades in the loggia areas.
With around 25,000 apartments, Dawonia is one of the leading housing companies in southern Germany. The Nuremberg project is ecoworks’ second major initiative in the region after Erlangen, highlighting the partners’ shared commitment to climate-friendly and future-ready housing.
From Efficiency Class E/F to B/C
The planned measures are expected to achieve energy efficiency classes B (Building Type 2) and C (Building Type 1), as well as Efficiency House Level 55 (Building Types 1 & 2). The buildings’ final energy demand will be reduced by approximately 51% on average.
